Set Chrome as Default Browser

Chrome Browser

The Chrome Browser is an amazing browser.  Not only is it usually pretty fast (if not, then check out our article on how to fix that issue with our 3 Steps to Fix a Slow Google Chrome Browser).  Chrome also checks against the Google database to alert you to bad or unprotected sites that may contain viruses that can harm your computer.  There are two easy options to set Chrome as default browser in Windows 10.

Set Chrome as Default Browser Steps

Set Default Browser Option 1:

  1. In Windows 10, press Start
  2. Type default in the settings search box
  3. Select Default app settings from the search results.
  4. Select the Web Browser button.
  5. Choose Google Chrome from the list. (All browsers installed on the system should appear in the list as available options.)

Set Default Browser Option 2:

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Click the 3 verticle dots on the top right of the Google Chrome browser
  3. Select Settings
  4. Scroll down to Default Browser
  5. Click Make Default button
  6. This will open the settings options, select the current default browser under the Web Browser section
  7. Select Google Chrome from the list
